Unsung incidents of the French & Indian War

…or of the Seven Years’ War, if you’re outside the U.S.

A few months back, we took a trip out to Ohio to visit some of my wife’s relatives.  Near their corner of rural eastern Ohio, there’s a “Great Trail Festival” each autumn — with folks dressing up and (to some degree cooking) like frontier folk from centuries back.  Part of the experience is a group of semi-local re-enactors portraying a skirmish from the French & Indian War.

A few months back, we took a trip out to Ohio to visit some of my wife’s relatives. One of the places we stopped in at was Lehman’s — a sundries store in the heart of Amish country, aiming to serve those that choose simpler lifestyles. Apparently they’ve hit on something, because the place is HUGE.

Anyway, I thought this was an interesting line-up:

I wouldn’t have thought of bells as being a big draw, but Lehman’s got a bunch of them in all sorts of shapes and sizes. I guess if you don’t use electricity (much less the internet)…
